CSIR is hosting a workshop that is built on the premises that lie between the Textile Arts and Crafts, as a field of creativity, expression and craftsmanship, and the textile sciences and technology, as fields of learning, understanding, and innovation, on 29 and 30 March at the Sasol Scifest 20001 in Grahamstown.

The workshop will be held in the Monument Messy Venue (B2 Arena) and starts at 9:30 in the morning, targeting Grade 5-7 pupils and has an entry charge of R3.00.
The workshop is an important part of textile technology education and plays a vital role in providing participants with skills and knowledge that can help with job creation, acceptance and understanding of other technology developments, e.g. indigenous plant fibre initiatives.
Each participant will be issued with a kit that contains raw material and a loom, enabling the participants to learn about fibre processing and gain skills in spinning, weaving, knitting, felting, dyeing and fabric construction.
