"We have no doubt that Sello will continue to build on the inroads CSIR icomtek has made in its local markets and industries, and will provide the necessary vision and leadership to take the unit further into the future. His considerable range of professional experience and exposure, and his belief in being a team player will not only contribute to icomtek¿s success, but to the success of the CSIR as a whole and will make him a valuable member of the Management Board," says CSIR Vice-President: Human Resources, Namane Magau.
Mr Matsabu¿s appointment is with effect from 1 September, and he has been formally introduced to staff at the CSIR¿s Information and Communications Technology Unit.
On taking office, Sello elaborated on his aspirations for CSIR icomtek: "I intend driving the efforts to leverage the power of Information, Communication and Space Technology for development in South Africa and the African continent as I am convinced that the CSIR is strategically well-positioned to help bridge the digital divide between our continent and the developed world. Equally important is the issue of creating commercial value from the CSIR¿s impressive intellectual capital in the field of information communications technology."
