International nano conference to be held in Pretoria

11 June 2008

The third NanoAfrica conference will be held on 1 - 4 February 2009 in Pretoria, Gauteng. Two conferences were hosted successfully in 2004 and 2006, respectively, in Cape Town, South Africa.

NanoAfrica 2009 is organised jointly by the South African Nanotechnology Initiative (SANi) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research's (CSIR) National Centre for Nano-Structured Materials in association with the Department of Science and Technology.

The conference will provide a forum for local as well as international students, researchers, technologists and entrepreneurs to interact on the latest developments and future trends in the multidisciplinary area of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Plenary and keynote lectures by leading international scientists, invited talks, contributed oral and poster presentations will offer delegates a good opportunity to learn about the latest research developments in this diverse field.

NanoAfrica2009 will focus on the following key areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology:

  • Novel nanomaterials synthesis
  • Advanced nano-structured materials
  • Nanotechnology and health/water/energy/textiles
